"Only two photos remain on the table. One of them will become the World Press Photo picture of the year. That’s what it’s come down to. Two weeks ago, when judging in the world's most prestigious photo contest began in Amsterdam on February 1, there were 85,000 photos by 5,775 photographers. Now there are just two left," writes AFP's director of photography Francis Kohn, who this year is heading the seven-member jury.
